Normal DayÂ
In line with other employees of the EICC any breaks would be unpaid. We would assume that if you are working more than a 10 hour shift then at least an hour would be taken for breaks – this may be several smaller breaks over the course of the shift rather than one straight hour.
Â
Short DayÂ
There may be occasions that we will not require a technician for a full day:Â It may be that it is a short morning, afternoon or evening event.
Â
This may also occur where a conference is coming to an end and the last day finishes at lunchtime – if there have been several full days and the final day finishes on a shorter day we would expect that this shorter day can be charged on a half day rate rather than a full day rate. This may also be the case if a conference is due to start in the evening and then run for following days.
Â
The minimum shift that you would be asked to work would be 5 hours and this would be paid at your standard hourly rate*.
Â
We will always try to rota a 10 hour shift; however 12 hour days will occur on occasion to sensibly accommodate event requirements.
Â
On these occasions, your normal day rate would apply, with the understanding that if an event goes over 10 hours ** we would pay each hour at your standard hourly rate* for the 11th and 12th hour.
Â
* The standard hourly rate for technicians would be the full day rate divided by 10.
** Unless your daily rate is stated as a 12 hour shift.
